National credit services company honors local transportation broker.
IMD Transportation was honored by CompuNet Credit Services, Inc., at the Transportation Intermediaries Association's national convention in San Diego, California last month. IMD Transportation earned the Gold Broker Award for their exceptional payment practices and outstanding creditworthy status in the trucking industry. As transportation brokers, they serve as intermediaries between manufacturers and shippers who need to locate trucking companies, which can move freight across the country to its final destination.
Trucks are responsible for moving 5.5 billion tons of freight each year compared with 1.6 billion tons moved by rail. Annual revenue from trucking each year is around $362 billion - more than 10 times the revenue generated in the railroad industry. Nearly 9 million people are employed in the trucking industry. Transportation brokers provide a service to both the manufactures and the trucking industry and play a major part in keeping that freight moving efficiently. CompuNet Credit Services is a nationwide company that specializes in transportation industry credit information. They maintain credit reports on virtually all transportation brokers in the country. The TIA members who were honored by CompuNet are part of the top 5 percent of the industry in terms of payment practices.
